RoSPA President’s Award
VolkerHighways is proud to have received its 16th consecutive RoSPA Gold Award, retaining the Distinction status achieved in 2025, recognising the company’s unwavering commitment to protecting its people.
2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards, which began as a small event to recognise the achievements of companies prioritising the safety of workers in the UK.
British Safety Council International Safety Awards
The business has received our fourth consecutive Distinction Status at the International Safety Awards, from the British Safety Council.
In 2025, we achieved Distinction Status for our Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead highway term maintenance contract, highlighting our dedication to health, safety and wellbeing throughout 2024. We were one of 212 organisations from 45 countries worldwide to achieve Distinction Status.
Triple Green Apple Award
Our Oxfordshire street lighting maintenance contract has achieved not just one Green Apple Award, but three, for its ongoing carbon reduction initiatives.
The team won Gold in the building and construction category, Silver in the electrical and electronics category and Bronze in utilities – all of which were for our carbon reduction achievements.
The achievement is thanks to the contract’s efforts to environmental improvements since the contract began in 2021. During this time, the team has replaced over 34,000 street lanterns with LEDs, resulting in a reduction of over 4000tCO2e achieving an annual projected cost saving of over £2 million.
International CSR Award
In 2026, both our Luton and West Sussex teams were recognised by The Green Organisation for their outstanding commitment to creating positive, lasting change in their local communities.
Our Luton team proudly received a Gold Award, while our West Sussex team secured a Silver Award, an impressive achievement given the contract had been in operation for less than a year at the time of submission.
CCS Bronze Award
In 2026, our Bath & North East Somerset and West Berkshire Highways Term Maintenance Contracts (HTMC) both earned a Bronze Award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) National Site Awards for receiving the highest marks possible in our recent CCS audits.
Highly Commended for CIHT Sustainability Award
Our Bath & North East Somerset highway maintenance contract was Highly Commended at the CIHT (Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation) Awards in the Sustainability category.
This recognition highlights both VolkerHighways’ and Bath & North East Somerset Council’s commitment to building a future-proofed highway depot that embodies greener infrastructure supporting both the environment and the communities we serve.
