VolkerHighways is working on a ten-year street lighting term maintenance contract for the Royal Borough of Kingston and London Borough of Sutton Councils.

The business will replace existing lighting with LEDs, helping to achieve energy savings for the councils, as well as a lower carbon footprint. More reliable lighting will contribute to improved safety for both residents and road users in Kingston and Sutton.

This contract expands the business’ lighting division, which will draw on its vast experience to deliver a comprehensive and high-quality service.

  • General maintenance and repair of streetlights and illuminated signs and bollards
  • Maintenance and repair of 11,000 streetlights for the Royal Borough of Kingston
  • Maintenance and repair of 15,000 streetlights for the London Borough of Sutton
  • Providing routine and non-routine maintenance
  • Planned LED replacements, providing energy savings for the councils
  • Providing night scouting and emergency call out services
  • Employment of at least one apprentice, during the life of the contract
  • Further recruitment aimed at the local community

Councillor Ian Manders, Portfolio Holder for Climate Action and Sustainable Transport for the Royal Borough of Kingston, said:
