Reece Brandon

Supervisor, VolkerHighways

Reece joined VolkerHighways as an apprentice when he was 18. He now works as a supervisor.

George Bullion, Operative

George gets involved in a wide variety of work, including surfacing, term maintenance and traffic management. No two days are ever the same. He leads a three-man gang on site, which has allowed him to develop his leadership skills. He says: “All the office staff and operatives get on really well and I always feel comfortable talking to my supervisor about any suggestions or ideas I might have.”


Alexandra Kosta, Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Alexandra joined VolkerHighways as an office business apprentice and is now undertaking a trainee quantity surveyor course. She is originally from Greece, and since moving to the UK has completed numerous courses to develop her skills. She says: “I am in my early 40s, but learning doesn’t have an age limit. My line manager and team are very supportive. The courses I have been offered are great opportunities.”

In 2019, Alexandra won CECA Southern’s ‘Most Promising Apprentice’ award and the Mark Scarth – Study, Training and Development Professional of the Year Award at VolkerWessels UK’s Platinum Awards.

James Bedford, Lighting Preconstruction Manager

James is part of the VolkerHighways’ lighting team. He enjoys the close-knit camaraderie of the lighting term maintenance sector. “The thing I most enjoy about my work is the people I get to work with. Lighting is the kind of industry where everyone knows everyone, which always helps to create a good atmosphere when working with different teams and suppliers.”

Kevin Kellie, Operations Manager

Kevin has worked his way up from operative roles to supervisor and site agent, having trained in a range of disciplines. "The thing I enjoy about this job is the variety. What we do really makes a difference to the local community and it’s very satisfying to see the positive effects of our work. VolkerHighways has a really friendly atmosphere. You always feel valued and the senior team are very approachable, which is important in a business like ours."
