VolkerHighways is pleased to announce that it was recently awarded Road Safety in the Community Award by Brake, the road safety charity, at the UK Fleet Champions Awards evening at New Dock Hall at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
The Road Safety in the Community Award is presented to an organisation that has made a positive impact on society and the environment, by improving wellbeing, community strength, and sustainability, with road safety at its heart.
VolkerHighways was the chosen winner thanks to our partnership-led approach with our local authority clients and their road safety teams, where we have developed the Kerby and Amber Road Safety Roadshow. Engaging with children aged 4-11 with assemblies focusing on key road safety messages, including the Green Cross Code, temporary road works and cycle safety education.
Brake has been running an awards programme for safety in the fleet sector for more than 20 years to recognise and celebrate the important achievements of organisations and individuals working to prevent crashes and reduce pollution caused by work vehicles.
“It was a privilege to attend Brake’s Fleet Champions Awards and an even greater honour to receive the Road Safety in the Community Award. Road safety is a core part of our legacy at VolkerHighways and something we are deeply passionate about. We are proud to be recognised for the positive impact we make in our communities and look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.”
