Over 700 Oxfordshire students inspired by road safety and careers workshops

In just one week, VolkerHighways and VolkerFitzpatrick joined forces to deliver a series of impactful road safety assemblies and a careers talk across four schools in Oxfordshire.

Edith Moorhouse Primary School
Brize Norton Primary School

Teams from VolkerHighways’ Oxfordshire street lighting contract and VolkerFitzpatrick’s Brize Norton project collaborated on interactive sessions designed to boost pupils’ understanding of road safety. Students had the chance to test their knowledge, take part in interactive activities, and learn directly from Amber, our popular road safety mascot, who helped teach the importance of the Green Cross Code.

Road safety assemblies were delivered at Brize Norton Primary School, Edith Moorhouse Primary School, and Hampton CofE Primary School. Meanwhile, students in Years 12 and 13 at The Oxford Academy received a careers assembly, explored roles and pathways into construction and the apprenticeship opportunities available within VolkerWessels UK.

Thanks to this collaborative effort, more than 700 young people across the county benefited from engaging, informative sessions that aim to support safer communities and inspire the next generation of constructors. We’re proud to have made such a positive impact across these Oxfordshire schools and look forward to reaching even more students in the future.
