Helping communities mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

VolkerHighways is proud to be helping local communities celebrate the Queen’s historic 70-year reign, this Platinum Jubilee weekend.

Our highways term maintenance teams, who currently provide a number of local authorities across Southern England with their highway maintenance service, are helping residents with their road closure plans, enabling them to safely hold street parties to celebrate the Queen’s long reign.

Our teams will be providing support to over 195 street parties across West Berkshire, Bath and North East Somerset, Wokingham, and Windsor and Maidenhead. VolkerHighways will be supplying road signage, including barriers, cones and road closure signs, as well as implementing some strategic diversion routes for busier roads over the four-day weekend.

Other activities include re-painting street lighting columns and giving the towns a ‘deep clean.’ In Wokingham, the team is celebrating early by hosting a British afternoon tea.

Alistair Thompson, managing director for VolkerHighways, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be providing resources for street parties being held across the local communities in which we work. It’s historic moments like these that make us proud to be able to offer our support and we are looking forward to seeing residents join together to mark this special occasion, over the bank holiday weekend.”
