VolkerHighways has launched a Road Safety Slogan Competition to all local schools in the areas they work, encouraging young people to think creatively about staying safe on and around the roads.

The competition forms part of the company's support for Brake's Road Safety Week. The initiative aims to raise awareness of road safety amongst children, giving the opportunity to promote life-saving messages across communities in which VolkerHighways work.
Children are to write a short, memorable and fun slogan that promotes safe behaviour when walking, cycling, or scooting near roads. The winning slogan will be displayed on VolkerHighways vans, helping spread the message to a wide audience.
Entries are open to schools in the following areas: Bath & North East Somerset, Somerset, West Sussex, Wokingham, Slough, Luton, Medway, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Kingston & Sutton, Brentwood and Oxfordshire.
Prizes:
- Winning school: £500 worth of school improvements or resources
- Winning pupil: £50 in book tokens
- The winning school will have a visit from one of our road safety mascots; Kerby, Amber or Sally
Key dates:
- Launch to schools: Monday 14th September 2026
- Submission deadline for schools: Friday 2nd October 2026
- Winner announced: W/c 12th October 2026
- Road safety assemblies and mascot visit: During Road Safety Week 15th – 21st November 2026
