VolkerHighways supports prestigious State Visit to Windsor
On Thursday 8th July, our Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead highway maintenance team played a key role in supporting the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, who was welcomed by His Majesty King Charles at Windsor Castle.

In preparation for the event, the team undertook a number of activities on roads and footways along the ceremonial route. This included clearing approximately 200 flag sockets, repairs to infrastructure, removing and subsequently reinstalling street furniture to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic and modifying network infrastructure, including adjustments to traffic islands. The team also sanded key routes on both 7th and 8th July to ensure safety for the horse procession.
During the day of the event, the entire operational team remained on standby and provided support with pedestrian barrier management to ensure smooth crowd control.
This marks the first of two high-profile state visits this summer. In September, the Royal Borough is set to welcome US President Donald Trump.
“VolkerHighways’ dedication and teamwork was essential for the smooth delivery of the event. From planning to execution, the consistent professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment was evident at every stage. Windsor looked fantastic and we appreciate all the hard work that’s gone into the operation.”
