VolkerHighways hosts ‘Rethinking the Future of Highways’ annual client engagement event

On Tuesday, VolkerHighways hosted its annual client engagement event: Rethinking the Future of Highways, at a new location - Newbury Racecourse.

This one-day event brought together local authorities, National Highways, public and private sector clients, supply chain partners, and VolkerHighways representatives in an open forum to explore the latest advancements in industry-leading technologies, products, and services.

The event offered valuable insights as speakers shared their knowledge and experiences, with innovation and sustainability at the forefront of discussions. Experts covered key topics such as road safety, AI, decarbonisation, social value, sustainable transport and cyber security.

The agenda featured impactful presentations from Roadmender Asphalt on reimagining road maintenance, Meon ‘repairing roads the right way,’ and VivaCity on AI-powered insights to accelerate your net zero and vision zero goals. SRL Traffic Signals on the latest intelligent transport systems, map16 Asset Management to optimise gully cleansing, Earth Sense on cleaner air for our communities and in-situ road recycling with Stabilised Pavements.

VolkerHighways provided updates on delivering meaningful social value in our communities, our journey of exploring and implementing carbon reduction initiatives in West Berkshire and decarbonising a highway depot, inspired by our Bath & North East Somerset contract. As well as the importance of cyber security within our business.

Attendees also had the opportunity to engage with supply chain partners, who showcased their products and services to inspire and contribute to the industry's ongoing evolution.

An outdoor exhibition featured demonstrations of cutting-edge carbon-reduction technologies, innovative safety equipment, and advanced plant machinery from Meon, SRL, Highway Care, HRS, Arbus/SmartRaft.

The event attracted more than 100 attendees, including 40 representatives from local authorities, public and private sector organisations, and delegates from 25 supply chain companies.
