Now in their 64th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world who have demonstrated their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during 2021. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.

VolkerHighways was awarded its International Safety Awards Distinction status for demonstrating health and safety best practice on its Bath and North East Somerset Highways Term Maintenance contract.

Mike Robinson, chief executive of the British Safety Council, said: “The British Safety Council applauds VolkerHighways’ Bath and North East Somerset team on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and hard work to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.”

Commenting on the business’ success, Christopher Jarry, health and safety manager for VolkerHighways, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded our first International Safety Award with Distinction. As a business, we are committed to the highest level of health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce, and the public. This Distinction Award shows that we are leading by example, to create a happy and productive workforce, that our clients can be proud of.”
