Highway Term Maintenance Association (HTMA)
VolkerHighways is one of the 13 founding members of the HTMA. The HTMA is a trade organisation that promotes the positive contribution that the highways management and maintenance industry makes to the nation and lobby effectively on behalf of the industry. VolkerHighways' Managing Director, Peter Hyde, is an executive board member of the HTMA where he plays a key role in contributing to the creation and promotion of highways industry initiatives and best practices.
Considerate Contractors Scheme (CCS)
The CCS is the national initiative set up by the construction industry to improve its image. VolkerWessels UK is an Associate member of the CCS, one of only 50 organisations to secure this level of accreditation. VolkerHighways is a four time recepient of the CCS award on it's Highways term maintenance contracts.
British Safety Council International Safety Award
VolkerHighways' London Borough of Hackney Highways Term Maintenance Contract was awarded the 2012 British Safety Council International Safety Award with Merit for showing our commitment to improving the health, safety and well-being of our workforces. Our Protect Our People campaign is just one of our health and safety initiatives for both our employees and the public.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Award
VolkerHighways is an active member of RoSPA. In 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 we received a RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Gold Award for demonstrating Health and Safety excellence. The Gold Awards have been given to VolkerHighways in recognition of the company's progressive approach to health and safety, reflected in the company's reduced accident statistics and improved safety performance year on year.
British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI)
VolkerHighways is a proud member of the BALI, the UK trade association for the landscaping sector. BALI's initiative is to promote, support and inspire all professional landscapers, garden designers and landscape suppliers to be leaders of an environmentally, ethically, and commercially sustainable landscape industry.
In 2010, VolkerHighways was presented an award for demonstrating exceptionally high standards of professionalism and skill in the hard landscaping category for projects valued over £1.5m. The award was given in recognition for the works carried out at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London. VolkerHighways was commended for working in harmony with the designer and client to produce an exceptional award winning scheme.
Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
VolkerHighways is an approved member of CHAS. The scheme assesses applicants health & safety policy statement, their organisation for health and safety, and their specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable for public and private sector organisations in Great Britain.
Constructionline
Constructionline is the UK Government's national register for suppliers. As a member, VolkerHighways has met pre-qualification requirements appropriate to public and private sector procurement.
Highways Electrical Association (HEA) and Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS)
As a member of the HEA, VolkerHighways abides by the Code of Conduct which ensures its members set the highest standards for work in the highways sector, are at the forefront of competence and employee technical and safety training and ensure that all members are registered to the HERS where applicable.
Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP)
VolkerHighways is a member of the ILP, the largest and most influential professional lighting association in the UK dedicated solely to excellence in lighting. As a member VolkerHighways receives essential information and support from the ILP such as government legislation and regulations, training, professional development and technical knowledge.
National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC)
The NICEIC is an organisation which regulates the training and work of electrical enterprises in the UK. VolkerHighways is registered with the NICEIC which requires contractors' works to be carried out to the current edition of BS 7671 (the British standard for IET Wiring Regulations).
National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS)
VolkerHighways has Full Accreditation by the Lloyd’s Register EMEA under NERS enabling us to carry out Third Party Contestable work within the scope of Project Management of Unmetered Supplies. The scheme is part of a continuous process to introduce competition into the electrical services market.
