VolkerHighways’ surfacing team recently completed a resurfacing project, to repair the deteriorated shared forecourt and car park of the Alan Day Volkswagen and Skoda dealerships, in Barnet.

The works were programmed to mitigate disruption to the dealership and its customers, and so took place over a weekend, building in contingency for the logistical challenges of limited access for the surfacing plant and lorries.

Through advanced planning and communication, the dealerships were able to remain fully open throughout the project.

  • Planed off the existing surface, which had suffered a significant amount of wear and tear
  • Replaced the surface with 2,333m2 of new surface course
  • Re-installed road markings for the parking bays
  • Customers were diverted to alternative showroom entrances and car park
  • The process of removing the existing asphalt was completed earlier in the day, further reducing noise disruption for the dealership’s customers
  • Works delivered to a high-standard and on time
