The business will undertake construction services and both routine and reactive highways maintenance, including street lighting, structures, bridges, drainage and winter maintenance.

They will also perform safety inspections, deliver major infrastructure projects and provide emergency response cover.

In addition, the team will work in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council on their ‘21^st Century programme’, using technology to keep residents fully informed about works being carried out throughout the borough.

The council’s ‘Report It’ system will give residents the opportunity to report highways issues directly to the VolkerHighways team and receive updates as they are resolved, ensuring a seamless and efficient customer experience.

The council has also awarded a separate professional services and consultancy contract to WSP and together, the three organisations will form the ‘Wokingham Highways Alliance’.
