The contract includes both planned and reactive maintenance, including carriageway and footway resurfacing, ground infrastructure works, public realm projects and lighting.

The team will undertake public realm projects, including Camden Gardens Pocket Park, where the team will upgrade paving, cycle stands and benches. VolkerHighways will also continue supporting Camden Council with a project to help deliver exciting improvements to the heart of Camden’s busy West End. The team will undertake phase two of the project, which is worth approximately £1.2 million, and includes the installation of specialist paving and benches around St Giles. Both schemes will help to provide safer, greener and more attractive areas for residents and visitors to enjoy.

VolkerHighways has been maintaining the majority of the streets in Camden since 2009 and this extension will provide a continuity of highways services to the residents and road users of Camden.

Scott Ward, project manager for VolkerHighways’ Camden contract, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract extension, to provide ongoing maintenance and improvements to the streets of Camden. The contract will be both exciting and challenging and we look forward to using our considerable experience, to continue providing a high-class service for the residents of Camden.”
