GULCS: Electric vehicle charging

London

VolkerSmart Technologies is installing electric vehicle charge points in London, on behalf of Siemens for the Go Ultra Low City Scheme (GULCS), a programme by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles within the Department for Transport.

The scheme aims to encourage more people to consider switching to an electric car, to help improve air quality in urban hotspots, and assist the government in meeting its emission-cutting targets.

This project shows VolkerSmart Technologies extensive experience in installing a range of charging points, safely and efficiently in busy, public environments, while taking advantage of the latest smart technology.

  • Installation of 510 electric vehicle charge points
  • Site surveys to find suitable lamp columns to mount electric vehicle charge points to
  • Using real time information through the Siemens field app
  • Installation of earth electrodes for excavation and reinstatement
  • Electrical testing and commissioning
  • Using Siemens app to register charge point locations and functionality
  • Routine electrical testing - six-month intervals
