Cycle hub units

Maidenhead Station

VolkerHighways is undertaking a five-year Highway Management and Maintenance contract with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

As part of the major regeneration scheme to improve the town centre environment and links to the train station, a bespoke cycle hub was installed at Maidenhead Station.

  • Installed 300 cycle spaces
  • Improved facilities to encourage users to cycle
  • Prepared ground and enabling works
  • Safely and efficiently dealt with unexpected asbestos
  • Fitted a filter drain and permeable paving slabs
  • Laid specialist paving and concrete casting for the stands
  • Procured and installed signage
  • Laid road markings around the hub
  • Installed CCTV within the area

The cycle units are part of a larger project – ‘Maidenhead’s Missing Links’, which aims to link up the cycle network around Maidenhead.
