We believe in pushing boundaries in the pursuit of equality, diversity and inclusion. So, our teams can be comfortable that, whatever their background, VolkerWessels UK is a place where they can be themselves and thrive.

Our goal is to ensure that VolkerWessels UK and all of our businesses are thoroughly inclusive of people from all lifestyles and enriched by a diversity of perspectives, cultures and backgrounds, characterised by fairness and equality of opportunity.

It is important to us that inclusion is a key part of our culture, and that everyone feels welcome and valued. We want all of our workplaces to be environments where everyone has the opportunity to participate and fulfil their potential.

We are committed to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce, and to creating a diverse and inclusive environment that supports our people, our supply chain and partners, our clients and all of our stakeholders.

For us, equality, diversity and inclusion is:

  • Making sure every one of our current and future employees feel welcome, valued and respected and that all of our people are motivated to perform at their personal best
  • Creating high performing teams by bringing together different opinions and perspectives, delivering better solutions for our clients and more opportunities for our people and organisation
  • Driving continuous improvement processes to maintain and enhance a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Embedding a culture of diversity and inclusion through awareness training and activities, and the sharing of consistent key messages across our business
  • Encouraging and attracting people from all ages and backgrounds through local and national recruitment, as well as our graduate and apprenticeship programmes
  • Encouraging engagement with education through school and university partnerships and volunteering activities

We make sure that equality, diversity and inclusion is part of our culture at all levels. Our head of EDI is supported by a steering committee which has board level sponsorship, and we have a keen volunteer network of EDI champions across the business.

Our accreditations and memberships

We are proud to have Investors in Diversity accreditation and to be members and supporters of a wide and diverse range of schemes and organisations that promote inclusion and diversity.
