CCS Bronze

The National Site Awards recognise construction sites across the UK and showcase the contribution companies make to improve the image of the construction industry.

VolkerHighways have been renewing the footpaths and highways in Hackney since 2004 becoming an active and integral member of the local community. They have been working closely with Hackney Council, local community groups – such as Disability Hackney and local residents, delivering high quality services to the local community. The contract achieved this prestigious CCS National award for their performance over and above CCS standards of compliance and by being considerate to the community, environmentally aware and for being safe and respectful.

Phil Thomas, head of HSEQS at VolkerHighways said: “We are delighted to win this award for the second year running. It continues to demonstrate the level of excellent community integration our contracts are achieving and shows the tremendous importance we place on working safely.

“We are very proud of the work our site teams are doing and work to ensure it continues in all current and future projects.”

During the 12 award ceremonies a total of 798 awards were presented with 99 achieving Gold Awards. 280 Silver and 387 Bronze were also won. In 2015, over 8,900 sites were eligible to win an award through their registration to the CCS.

The CCS provides construction sites, companies and suppliers the opportunity to voluntarily register with the scheme and agree to abide by the code of considerate practice, designed to encourage best practice throughout the industry.
