VolkerHighways win £100m in new business

The contracts have been awarded by three London boroughs - Haringey, Camden and Enfield - and by Transport for London.
Haringey Council has awarded VolkerHighways two four year contracts, with potential to extend a further four years to 2017. The two contracts, Highway Maintenance and Street Lighting have a probable spend totalling £10m per annum.
Camden Council has awarded a four year contract for highway maintenance, which can be extended to 2016, worth £5m per annum.
Enfield Council has awarded a two year extension to the existing £15m annual highways contract.
Transport for London has awarded a one-year extension to an existing £3m annual civil engineering contract.
"We are delighted with these new contract wins. It indicates that, with a secured order book of £250m, we will be a major player in the Term Maintenance market in the years to come" said VolkerHighways Managing Director Peter Hyde.
"These new business wins are based on a solid record of delivery for our clients, and show that we have a reputation for quality, and that we deliver on time and to budget" he continued.
Haringey's Cabinet Member for Environment and Conservation, Cllr Brian Haley said: "The council is committed to meeting its sustainability objectives and one of the important considerations in awarding VolkerHighways these contracts was how it could help us to do this.
Enfield Council's Lead Member for Environment and Streetscene, Cllr Terry Neville said, "We took the decision to extend the current three year contract for a further two years until November 2011 based on our satisfaction with the level of quality and performance provided by VolkerHighways. The excellent working relationship that we have developed between us has led to the introduction of a number of service enhancements that will give real benefits to the residents of Enfield."
Transport for London's Head of Traffic Infrastructure, Mark Beasley said, "This contract extension reflects TfL's satisfaction with both the quality and responsiveness of VolkerHighways in providing a civil engineering resource to TfL. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with them during the coming year."
