Richmond Terrace Gardens

London

VolkerHighways carried out the refurbishment of gardens along side the River Thames to create new gardens with terraced steps and walkways, with timber bench seating facing the river. Works included all hard and soft landscaping.

The project for the redevelopment of this Victorian Park was negotiated after successfully demonstrating the quality of our management and workmanship in Richmond on the highways civil engineering and construction contract for the Borough.  Work restrictions were in place to allow use of the park at peak periods such as school holidays.

The works comprised the re-establishment and improvement of both formal and informal gardens including new natural stone paths, steps and retaining walls. Work also encompassed access improvements, widening paths and creating ramps. Planting areas were re-established and upgraded to suit the new access routes.

The project was completed on time and budget in April 2009 and formally opened by Prince Edward in July 2009.

Our company was subsequently given an award by the Richmond society for our positive and beneficial contribution to amenity in Richmond Upon Thames.'
